Our Story

First Coast Coin est. 2019

Every great collection has a story; ours started with a stubbed toe. In 2013, Katelynn literally stumbled upon Adam’s hidden collection of Wheat Cents, transforming a household accident into a family legacy. Officially established in 2019, First Coast Coin has since expanded into a true family endeavor, welcoming Kimberley (Katelynn’s mom) and their son Jackson to the team.

We are proud, active members of the professional numismatic community, maintaining elite credentials with PCGS, NGC, CAC, ANA, SPMC, and the Greater Jacksonville Coin Club.

At First Coast Coin, we combine family values with industry-leading expertise to serve our clients.

What to Except

Transparency, security, and privacy are the cornerstones of First Coast Coin. We choose an appointment-based model because your time—and your story—matter to us. We understand that coins are often more than just metal; they are cherished inheritances.

We strive to honor that history by providing honest evaluations, competitive pricing, and friendly, expert service in the discretion of our private Jacksonville office.

While we appreciate all aspects of numismatics, our expertise is deeply rooted in Early American coins and currency. By narrowing our focus, we ensure our clients receive the highest level of specialized knowledge and service.

Because we dedicate our resources to this specific era, we may not be the right fit for modern or world coin collections, but we’d be happy to point you in the right direction.

To ensure every client receives our full attention and a secure experience, we do not accept walk-ins. During our initial call, we’ll ask a few clarifying questions to help us prepare for your visit and ensure everything is ready for your arrival.

Our Story

The Faces Behind First Coast Coin

First Coast Coin was launched in 2019 by husband-and-wife team Adam and Katelynn, blending a lifelong passion for numismatics with a deep commitment to personal service. What began as a personal hobby that completely outgrew our closet quickly evolved into a trusted, family-owned business. Together, we combine Adam’s expert numismatic knowledge with Katelynn’s dedication to operations, organization, and customer care. We intentionally avoid transactional business models. Instead, we take a dedicated, one-on-one approach to build lasting relationships with our community. Whether you are a seasoned collector searching for your next lifelong investment, or a first-time seller feeling overwhelmed by an inherited family collection, we are here to guide you with honesty, transparency, and professionalism.

Meet Adam

"I’ve had a passion for coin collecting since I was seven years old. My interest began when my uncle, who was serving in the U.S. Air Force and stationed in Germany at the time, visited during one of his overseas tours and gave me a set of steel cents along with a Mercury dime. I was immediately fascinated by the history behind the steel cents and the beauty of the Mercury dime, and from that moment on, I was hooked. Over the next several years, I enjoyed searching through pocket change for interesting coins and occasionally adding silver pieces to my growing collection. Like many collectors, life eventually pulled me away from the hobby for a time, but I rediscovered my passion for numismatics in my mid-20s. In 2006, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy, which gave me the opportunity to travel the world and experience many different cultures. In 2013, I met my wife, Katelynn, and we were married in 2015. She has always been incredibly supportive of my hobbies and played a major role in helping us launch our business. My collecting interests tend to focus on older American coinage, although my favorite coin seems to change regularly. At the moment, I’m especially drawn to the Flowing Hair silver coin series featuring the small eagle reverse. As Chief Numismatist at First Coast Coin, I enjoy helping collectors and families better understand the history and value of their coins and currency. I look forward to meeting with you and evaluating your collection."

Meet Katelynn

"Unlike Adam, my coin collecting journey began when we met in 2013. Raised in an entrepreneurial family, I always loved managing the business behind the scenes. I often joke that I "married into the hobby," which is entirely true! The first piece that truly spoke to me was an 1878 Seated Liberty Proof Dime we bought together in Chicago while we were still dating. Graded PCGS PR62, it wasn't our most expensive item, but it became our centerpiece. It grew even more meaningful when PCGS later upgraded it to a Deep Cameo. To this day, that dime remains my favorite coin. As Director of Operations at First Coast Coin, my primary goal is to make every client feel welcomed, informed, and cared for from the very first call or email. I understand that every collection has a story, and I strive to ensure we take the time necessary to properly evaluate each one without making clients feel rushed. When I’m not assisting customers, handling marketing, or coordinating day-to-day operations, you’ll usually find me managing our certified inventory database or working on our website. Although I discovered coins later in life, I’ve developed a genuine passion for both the hobby and the business, and I truly enjoy helping First Coast Coin continue to grow."
